Getting around

I-10 access is the big draw: Baton Rouge is a straightforward commute north and New Orleans is reachable south, though both can back up badly at peak hours. The industrial corridor jobs in Geismar and along the river are a short drive. Within town, Airline Highway carries most of the retail traffic and gets congested near the outlet area on weekends.

The Tanger Outlets corridor covers most big-box shopping. Lamar-Dixon Expo Center hosts rodeos, livestock shows, concerts and the events that draw the whole parish. Gonzales calls itself the Jambalaya Capital of the World, and the annual festival is the city's signature weekend.
